Fragments of a suspected space vehicle continued to fall in villages in Gujarat’s Anand district on Monday, four days after “metal balls” fell in three villages.

On Monday morning, a broken metal part of a suspected space vehicle fell at Khodiyarpura in Sojitra taluka. Earlier, a lamb was killed in Kasor village of the taluka when a similar piece of metal fell on a pen.
The police registered a “case of note” in this matter and opened an investigation.

According to district collector MY Daxini, the district was waiting for an expert report. “Two other incidents were reported in Sojitra taluka. Both areas are located nearby. A part that looks like a foot ladder fell in both places, and in the village of Kasor it fell on a pen near a house and killed a lamb… We sent all the objects, including the spheres metals that fell last week at the Physical Research Laboratory of ISRO (Indian Space Research Organization). They have collected all the pieces and are examining them,” Daxini said.

Metal balls weighing around six kilograms fell at three locations in Anand district – Bhalej, Khambholaj and Rampura – on the evening of May 12, suggesting that they were part of a space vehicle. On May 15, a suspected part of a space vehicle also fell in Savli taluka of Vadodara district.

According to Anand Police Superintendent Ajit Rajiaan, villagers in Kasor approached police after the alleged fragment killed a lamb. “We have registered a case of note based on information received from the owner of the house… A domestic animal was killed by the impact of the falling metal fragment…. No further casualties were reported elsewhere,” Rajiaan said.
